We love this picture of Rita Dove.
It was taken by her husband Fred Viebahn, when they were both studying in Iowa City, 1977 — (Dove at the Writers’ Workshop, Viebahn at the International Writing Program.)
We found it while doing research for the City of Lit app and City of Lit mobile website, and we contacted Fred Viebahn. He ended up sharing a whole stack of old photos with us from his expansive collection — it was exciting!
